CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will host the 50th annual Iowa High School Model United Nations (IHSMUN) Spring Conference Thursday and Friday, April 24 and 25, in the Maucker Union Ballrooms and other rooms on campus. The event is organized and facilitated by UNI's IHSMUN chapter.
At the event, nearly 25 high schools from across the state will represent 39 countries of the United Nations. High school students will model the procedure of the U.N. in New York City, working with peers to draft resolutions on topics of international importance using viewpoints of member nations.
At this year's conference, Ron McMullen, former U.S. ambassador, will be the keynote speaker at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 25, in Maucker Union Old Central Ballroom. McMullen is an Iowa native who served as the ambassador to Eritrea, a country in Africa.
