Board Meeting - Minutes

Minutes from September 11 Board Meeting:  Motion to approve by Carlin H. 2nd. By Bill R.   - Approved


Treasurer's Report: Deferred.... Lloyd not present.

*** President's note on Treasurer's Report - Lloyd did mail a Treasurer's Report to the President ... who then FORGOT to bring it to the meeting ... that will certainly cost him a dollar! ***  C. Neuhaus

Current Balance as of October 1 for each account:

            General Account - $2,399.07

            Sponsorship Account - $4,488.89


Pancake Breakfast update: We need to get signage out front. Check on rental cost for large movable sign. Tickets are now available. Carlin is still
pursuing griddles ... may have to rent. Bill Robinson has a church group that may attend (14)... Perhaps pursue other groups.  Carlin reminded us that we need to pursue student volunteers. Provide rides if needed.  We will use plastic table clothes, easy to wipe up. No place mats. Need GOOD
plastic plates. Lea A. to do purchasing. Need to take inventory. See the Web page for Pancake ad. Duane H. will see that we get Ad into Jr. League monthly paper.


UNI Student Groups: Lots of discussion. We should pursue Jessica Olsen as coordinator (Sertoma Club Member) Btwn. Sertoma Club & Collegiate Sertoma. (This person needs to know sign language). Question on minimum students required for club.(Chris ill make a call). “ Deaf Day” Duane H. will participate.


Social Work Club: Needs our monetary & “bodily” assistance in putting on a “Hunger Banquet”. Help with advertising &/or cost of food etc. “Children's cafe” thru food bank was also mentioned. We will ask them to make a presentation (request for funds) at our business mtg. Oct 21. We also will express to them your desire to Exchange “manpower” during pancake &Valentine fund raisers... Also sharing of income.


Flag Project: Do door to door in spring... Flag const & hole drilling Weekend of Oct. 11. Carlin H. & others. Need to drill in 12-15 new holes.


Recruit new members: Never ending task. Hinton @ Community Bank may not be able to attend Tues. noon. Need to pursue for Thurs. night mtg. Others??

Hit larger businesses for new members: Chris intends to pursue this perhaps with help of Travis &/or Troy .... Pursue a member from the business and also pursue our Pancake project at the same time.... (Ticket sales).

Create new ways for membership: Neighborhood flag assistance. Etc.


Awards Ceremony Business: Sertoman of the year. Bill R. is heading this up. Give Bill a name. Service to Mankind.  We will ask Judy H. & Phil H. to head up. Student Essay: We will ask Carol C. & Duane H.


Other business: We need to give final opinions on Sturgis at our next board meeting. Do we do same as usual, ask to be moved to new area and change our menu, or cancel out...
