Cedar Valley Sertoma Club
Board Meeting-Minutes
November 18, 2004

Present: Lloyd Berry, Chris Neuhaus, Bob Robinson, and Jessica Williams.

October minutes were approved with Jessica moving to accept and Lloyd provided a 2nd.

Treasurer’s Report- Jessica moved to approve and Bob provided a 2nd

   General Account: $1181.68

   Sponsorship Account: $1405.52

The Board approved a reduction in initial club membership dues to $20.

In light of problems with the Broom Factory kitchen and as a result of their personal reconnaissance, Bob Robinson and Chris Neuhaus recommended that the next Pancake Breakfast fundraiser be held at the newly renovated Senior Center.

Members of the Board noted that the SSWA students were not particularly excited about forming and joining another club - namely the UNI Collegiate Sertoma Club - though they remain interested in participating in the Pancake Breakfast and Valentine's Roll fund raising activities with the Cedar Valley Sertoma Club.  If the UNI NSSHLA students are also ambivalent about forming a UNI Collegiate Sertoma Club it is the opinion of the Board that our club's energies be devoted first to building up membership in the Cedar Valley Sertoma Club first ... and then focusing on creating a Sertoma Club around the Sign Language Club composed of adult members of the local community ... rather than starting and supporting a UNI Collegiate Sertoma Club.

Membership Drive Contest!

The Cedar Valley Sertoma Club will be divided into three teams:

Team 1: Bob Robinson, Paula Padavich, Lloyd Berry, Zach Dietrich, Phil Heath, Travis Manske, Rick Koch

Team 2: Donna Brown, Jessica Williams, Jaime Williams, Bill Smart, Cliff Highnam, Bill Robinson, Ed Smith, Judy Harrington

Team 3: Carlin Hageman, Chris Neuhaus, Dave Greene, Troy Delagardelle, Joe Alemao, Carol Cooper, Linda Janssen

Need club input on the contest ... but ideas so far:

Each team gets ONE POINT for each team member that attends a SERTOMA meeting.

Each team gets FIVE POINTS every time they bring a guest (prospective new member) to a SERTOMA meeting.

Each team gets FIFTY POINTS every time they sign up a new member.

1st contest runs from January 1 to April 1 (first quarter)...

The winning team gets ... (and here is where we can really use your input) ... dinner prepared for them by the losing teams? ... dinner paid for by the losing teams? ... other??

The Board also discussed providing regular information sessions to the club during meetings - the SERTOMA Moment - a five minute update or review on some aspect of SERTOMA (club members will be asked in advance to present on a given SERTOMA-related topic in advance).

Respectfully,
Chris Neuhaus
