Executive Board Meeting

Minutes – June 29 


Present:             Cliff Highnam (presiding), Joe Alemao, Lea Andersen, Carlin Hageman, Chris Neuhaus, Paula Padavich, Darla Sharar, and a brief cameo appearance from Bob “Mr. Sturgis” Robinson.

  

1.                      Lea Anderson has agreed to serve as 3rd Vice-President (President for 2005) for our club.  Thanks Lea!

  

2.                      The Board moved to repay the very generous $800 loan given by Lea and Nick Anderson to help cover the cost of the portable defibrillator in March, 2001.  Many thanks to both Lea and Nick for helping the club in its time of need!

 3.                      Carlin Hageman has agreed to meet with the members of City Council to try to overcome objections to the American Flag project raised by Marty Ryan.  These objections included:

 

a.       Potential problems with gas lines located near the street.

 

b.      Problems for motorists as a result of reduced visibility.

 

c.       Concerns over the use of “publicly owned property” for fundraising.

 

d.      The probability that flag anchors would be destroyed from time-to-time as a result of city maintenance.

 

Executive Board members noted that this project could continue – despite these objections – if flags were placed well back of the street, within the private property of homeowners – though this might lessen the overall appeal and affect of flag lined streets.

 

4.                      Bob Robinson noted that the club should note essentials and changes in procedures for next year’s Sturgis Falls festival.  Some ideas noted at the time:

 

                                    A second or larger refrigerator

Wood chips for the flooring of the tent (plus shovel and wheelbarrow)

Stick with bottled pop – it works!

Carpet stapler and plywood connectors a must!
