Cedar Falls
Sertoma Club
Board Meeting
Minutes
01/26/2001
Present: Cliff Highnam (presiding), Joe Alemao, Lea Anderson, Chris Neuhaus, and Darla Sharar
Absent: Donna Brown, Carlin Hageman, and Paula Padavich
1. The Board unanimously and resoundingly voted their approval of longtime Waterloo Sertoma Club members Ray MacIlvain and Paul Morris as new members of the Cedar Falls Sertoma Club.
2. Cliff Highnam announced that he had received a letter from Camp Confidence/Sertoma (Brainard, MN) asking for contributions. Camp Confidence/Sertoma was established for kids that are deaf or hard-of-hearing. The Board moved that the Cedar Falls Sertoma Club consider a contribution for next fiscal year, as all the funds from the Cedar Falls Sertoma budget for 2000-2001 are already earmarked.
3. Chris Neuhaus will contact Sid Morris and invite him to speak during one of our meetings in March (March 6th, 13th, or 27th) per instructions from Darla Sharar the March Program Coordinator. At this time the Cedar Falls Sertoma Club will present Sid with a check - equal to half of the net profits from the CF Sertoma Club pancake supper - for the Cedar Falls Senior Center.
4. The Board then discussed the Valentines Day Cinnamon Bun fundraiser. The Board agreed to enlist the support of UNI students under the guidance of their advisor and fellow Sertoman Carol Cooper. For 2001 these students would help advertise, sell, and deliver the cinnamon buns. This student organization would keep half of the profits from all buns they sold and delivered. Cliff will ask Darren Winkowitsch and Rachel Folland to contact local radio and news outlets to see if they might provide advertising for this fundraiser. Chris will contact potential publicity outlets on the UNI campus.
5. Lea Anderson distributed copies of the Treasures Report for September, October, November, and December 2000.
6. Finally, the Board reviewed the plans for the upcoming Awards Banquet - Sunday, February 25 (6:00 p.m. 8:30 p.m. Broom Factory).
Respectfully submitted,
Chris Neuhaus
