Business Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Present: Paula Padavich (presiding), Lea Andersen,
Alan Asher, Lloyd
Berry, Donna Brown, David Greene, Cliff Highnam, Travis Manske (soon to be
Sertoman), Chris Neuhaus,
Bill Robinson, Bob Robinson, Ed Smith and Jessica Williams
Guests: Jessie Loveless (House of Hope), Gary Brown.
1. Review of Executive
Board Minutes - November 14 - Lloyd moved, Dave provided a 2nd and the club approved
the minutes.
2. Lloyd presented the Treasurer's Report. Lloyd announced that the club will now
use the 15th of each month as closing date for accounting to keep records consistent and
easy to review/audit. The General Account now stands at $1,846.91 and the
Sponsorship Account at $3,678.86. Recent donations include $1000 to the Deaf
Services Commission of Iowa and $125 to EPI for an Alarm Device. Chris moved, Donna
provided a 2nd and the club approved the Treasurer's Report.
3. Donna made cards to thank all those people who purchased flags during the Sertoma
Flag Fundraiser. Donna distributed the thank you cards to all Flag Team leaders.
4. Donna announced that the Bylaws were club approved and to be sent to Sertoma
International for their approval. Chris thanked Bill Robinson for his extraordinary
efforts in crafting the bylaws as they now stand.
5. Bob Robinson introduced Jessie Loveless of the House of Hope and the club discussed
with Jessie the House of Hope's current situation and the possibility of forming a club -
a Sertoma Club - around fundraising activities for the House of Hope. Jessie pledged
to take this idea to the House of Hope Board and will give Bob Robinson their reply in a
few weeks.
6. Bob also inquired about initiating work on the Valentine Bun fundraiser - Paula and Bob
will inquire with Angie Burda (Valentine Team Leader) as to what needs to happen and when.
7. Travis Manske (mansket@excite.com) - of Dan
Deery fame - was introduced. Travis announced that he is joining the club - THREE
CHEERS!
8. David Greene announced the upcoming programs for December - they are: December
3 - Iowans: Jerks or Geniuses - by Phil Froiland, December
10 - Iowa's Early Intervention System - by Gina Greene, and December 17 -
Oh I Hope Santa Really Comes - Mark "Magic Man" Pittman.
There will be no meetings on December 24 or December 31. There will also be
no Business or Board Meetings during December. Rest up and enjoy the holidays!
9. Donna moved that we give a $75 Gift Certificate from College Square to
our most
excellent waitress Toni Gleason. Cliff provided a 2nd and the club
voiced its vociferous
approval! Lloyd will manage the details of this Gift Certificate.
