Sergeant at Arms Dave Greene conducted the drawings – money to President Brown and “What’s It” (birthday candle) to Lloyd Berry.

Treasurer’s Report – Lloyd Berry passed around the Club budget as well as a report covering Feb. 19- March 14, 2002.  He noted the profit made on the Valentine Bun project exceeded that which was budgeted.

Minutes – No changes to last month’s Business Meeting minutes.

President Brown reported on the last Board of Directors meeting.

·         Flag project:  Board discussed the flag fundraiser and Carlin is ready to proceed.  We’ll need to get flags from different distributors as no one distributor has enough for us.  We will order roughly one flag per member—about 30 total.  Nylon flags will be ordered, for wearability purposes.  Flags will be 3’ x 5’ in size and roughly $25 per flag. We will order roughly one flag per member at this time - about 30 total.

·         Regional Convention:  We need to make a decision this month on who will be attending so President Brown can release hotel rooms.

·         Individual requests for help:  The Board decided not to accept people’s individual requests for help with doctor’s bills, hearing equipment, etc.  Carol Cooper inquired as to whether we should begin our own Foundation to cover these sorts of requests.   Former Waterloo Club members spoke to this and their experience with the Waterloo Club’s Foundation.  Consensus among those present was not to fund individual requests.

·         Collegiate Sertoma Club – Cliff is investigating how other UNI clubs organize and function.  Chris Neuhaus is checking with other Sertoma clubs that have collegiate chapters.

·         USABDA – tickets are available through President Brown.

·         Camp Confidence – This is a Sertoma-sponsored camp in Minnesota.  We should try to encourage area youth go to there.  We need to find the appropriate students and the question is ‘how’ do we do that.  Carol suggested possibly through AEA7.

Old Business –

·         Perhaps we should publicize the Heritage Essay Contest through the after-school programs at the middle schools—the 21st Century Grant program which Michelle Temeyer came and spoke about.

·         Still investigating potential sites for the pancake breakfast this fall.

New Business –

·         By-laws folks will be meeting soon – probably the last Thursday of April.  They have determined that a Nominating Committee will now exist.   Carol suggested we check Robert’s Rules of Order to check their recommendation on composition of that committee.

·         As always – bring new members, or potential new members, to lunch!

Meeting adjourned 12:34 p.m.
