The induction ceremony for Jessica Williams was performed by Carlin Hageman and Cliff Highnam.
Paula Padavich read a thank you note from a very appreciative recipient of our Valentines cinnamon buns.
Lloyd noted that while it may be possible to hold the next Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at his church there would be some significant expenses. It was noted that members of the senior center now meet and eat at the old Exchange Bingo building at the corner of 5th and Washington. The seating in the Exchange Bingo building is good, the kitchen a bit smaller, while the parking would be much less convenient. Carol asked that the club look into holding the event at the American Legion on 14th street.
Lloyd reviewed the budget as of July 16, 2002 the General account now stands at $1,599.25 while the Sponsorship Account stands at $4,123.43.
Alert! There is $625.25 in outstanding membership dues. Please give Lloyd a call at 277-4876 if you have yet to take care of your dues and will be unable to attend the next meeting.
Members of the Club questioned and debated whether Golf Fundraisers are effective, whether we should simply concentrate on Flags-Sturgis-Pancakes-Buns and whether we should hold a Golf Fundraiser this fall.
Lloyd reminded the club that the Cedar Valley Sertoma Club bench should soon be placed on the bicycle trail near Black Hawk Park.
Cliff thanked everyone for their efforts on the Sturgis Falls fundraiser. Chris will be creating Cedar Valley Sertoma Club thank you certificates for all of our non-member volunteers. Carol asked that the Club also write a letter of appreciation addressed to the Dean of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts - for each of the UNI graduate students helping with the project. Carlin suggested that we invite these graduate students to a meeting/lunch this fall to show our appreciation.
Carlin asked the club to consider purchasing decals/stickers for the flag polls. These decals would state: American Flags supplied by the Cedar Valley Sertoma Club and include a phone number of a CV Sertoman.
