Cedar Valley Sertoma Club
Online Board Meeting - e-mail collection
April 8-11, 2004

e-mails are in reverse chronological order

VirtualSERTOMABoardfolk:

Happy Easter - since everyone has stayed away from e-mail this long I
suspect we are all having a very good weekend.

The main point to consider at or before the next business meeting (BTW -
I will be out of town so Jessica - if you will be there please hold
forth ... and would one of you would be so kind as to take minutes) is
the need for a new president elect.

I suppose we should form a nominating committee - I would suggest that
Paula head this up and the Bylaws suggest this too :-) ... perhaps
Jessica and ? and ?? can help out. Note I got ahead of myself and made
inquiries concerning Secretary and President (as can be seen in the
next paragraph - my apologies for jumping the gun ... but we needed to
get a Secretary and Treasurer for next year on a report that needed to
go out March 1).

We do need a President Elect! Both Duane Halbur and Bill Smart are
unable to take this on this next year. For my part I would recommend
any of the following fine candidates if they're willing (the following
based on regular attendance at meetings or participation in projects):
Angie Burda (if past the tenure hurdle), Judy Harrington, Carol Cooper,
Bob Robinson ... else we could look to our more recent presidents to
see if they would have another go at it e.g. Carlin Hageman, Cliff
Highnam, Donna Brown. Note - Lloyd is going to serve as Treasurer,
Dave and Bill R. as Sergeants at Arms (again I hope? ... though if they
have an inclination to be president I would back them!), and Troy has
agreed to serve as Secretary. I suspect Paula and Chris aren't quite
rested up from their previous turns at this.

Jessica will ask most of us to serve on various committees or as Vice
Presidents so we'll all get a chance to serve I'm sure.

Don't forget to chat about flags ...

Carlin - could you call Paul Nielson at the end of this week or the
beginning of the next week ... I'll be away starting this Thursday and
am rather curious to know if we will be doing an Overmann Sturgis.
OK ... Confession/Warning(?) time --- I must be out of town from June
1 - June 14 AND June 26(!) - July 11 for work on my 2nd job on an NSF-
funded Digital Library Project ... sooo... I can get us prepped up
through May (and all the paperwork - except Health Permit - is already
done) but I can't see this project through ... someone else (some many
others) will have to carry this load - :-( ...

Carlin - could you also mention the Collegiate Sertoma Club update.

Perpetual Item of Business - Recruiting new members ... this is growing
ever more important!!!

.. and don't forget ...

To date we have the following aye's for both the treasurer's report and
the past minutes ... could use a few more as well as comments
concerning the above.

Bill Robinson says "aye" to both Treasurers report and minutes of the
meeting.

Aye to the Treasurers report. I approve of the minutes from last
month. - Jessica

I will second the treasurer's report knowing one of you fine folks
motioned - Duane

Cheers,

Chris "see you Tuesday" Neuhaus

VirtualSERTOMABoardfolk:

I will move to accept the Treasurer's report with Duane providing a
second ... noting that we are at $834.96 with Sponsorship money but
likely to bring a lot more with flags in the near future.

------------

(from Duane)

I will second the treasurer's report knowing one of you fine folks
motioned

Duane

----------

All those in favor give supply an e-mail aye ... those opposed can sign
on with an electronic nay.

BTW - the previous minutes are at
http://www.uni.edu/neuhaus/sertoma/minutes/march2004.html ... so while
you're at it give these past minutes a look and let me know if you
approve of the past minutes as well as the Treasurer's Report - or if
you note something is in error ... I'll take first and 2nd approval of
minutes as a 1st and 2nd and all those thereafter as voting either in
favor (if noting errors I'll reverse the process).

Chris "speeding up the formalities?" Neuhaus

Sertomaboardfolk:

Too many of us will have trouble making the Board Meeting today ... so
... we'll do another virtual Board Meeting like we did in December (the
last time we were too-crazy-busy-to-meet).

Just check you e-mail from time-to-time and I'll compile everything as
we go. We'll consider the meeting started right now - and concluded at
the end of Monday, April 12 2004.

START!

There are just a couple of items I'll note to begin with ... and y'all
can chime in with other thoughts, ideas, and comments as we progress.

1st - we are still waiting to here from Paul Nielson about Sturgis at
Overmann (and will need to wait until after April 15).

2nd - Carlin has enough signatures for the UNI Collegiate SERTOMA Club -
and while I was hoping to get SSWA and ASL students signed up ... they
are a bit too distracted by term papers, finals etc. ... we'll get them
later! Paper work will be sent off next week.

3rd - Carlin and I are going to try the take
Jacques-Dubois-to-lunch-return-with-a-new-SERTOMAN routine in the near
future.

4th - We are in need of a President-Elect (as Jessica moves on to
President) ... Duane and Bill Smart have too many conflicts this year
and have declined (for now?). We may need to see if we can interest a
"veteran" to volunteer for this post.

BTW - Jessica - Even though its a bit early ... you could probably start
asking people if they would serve as officers or committee members e.g.
start getting new (and repeat) names for the 2004-2005 version of
http://www.uni.edu/neuhaus/sertoma/committees.html

5th - Haven't heard anything new from Pat Higby on the Solar Car contest
we're helping to sponsor.

All for the moment ... weigh-in with news and comments as you think of
them! How bout them flags?

Cheers,

Chris "let the virtual board meeting continue" Neuhaus
