Number 8 seed Jeremy Hunter of Penn St against Number 9 seed Tim Dernlan of Purdue started the second round. Dernlan had a TD with seconds left in the first period. In the second period Dernlan had an escape bringing the score to 3-0. Huster had an escape to start the third period making the score 3-1. He then tied up the match which endured two overtimes with Oernlan earning an escape to clinch the win.
