The Iowa fans erupted at the UNI-Dome when Hawkeye, Tony Ersland won his overtime match against Bret Ruth of American University, 3-1. The first period saw no scoring and escapes after the referee's start between periods. At the end of regulation, the score was 1-1. It took almost the entire time for Ersland to score the deciding takedown in the 177 pound match.
