Biography
Walizer posted his second straight third place finish at the Big Ten Championships this year after going 3-1 in the tournament and running his season record to 15-10. Walizer's only loss in the tournament came to eventual champion Mark Ironside of Iowa in the semifinals. After missing much of the early season with an elbow injury, Walizer has returned top form late in the year despite being hampered by a bruised knee. He will be making his second trip to the NCAA Championships as he posted a 2-2 mark in his freshman campaign, coming within a 3-1 overtime loss to Northwestern's Tony Pariano of making All-American. Walizer has posted a 9-9 dual meet mark on the year and has three falls and one major decision to his credit. Six of his losses on the year have come to ranked opponents. Walizer is known as the "Funkmaster" by teamates due to his ability to maneuver into unusual holds and his excellent scrambling ability. He was a two-time Pennsylvania state champion.
