| Musser claimed third at the 1997 Big Ten Championships after posting a 3-1 record an losing only to eventual champion Roger Chandler of Indiana. In posting a 26-11 mark on the year, nine of his eleven losses have come to wrestlers ranked above him, including eight losses to wrestlers ranked in the top five. He has knocked off three ranked opponents, including a 5-4 win over then No. 5 ranked Jason Ramstetter and a 6-4;sd win over then No. 4 Brett Matter. Musser opened the year with a 14-0 record and having claimed first at the East Stroudsburg Open and second at the Mat Town Tournament. He recorded a 10-8 dual mark on the year and posted five falls and four major decisions. Musser redshirted last season and banged heads with All-Americans John and Russ Hughes in the Penn State wrestling room. He posted a 19-8 record in his freshman campaign going 0-2 in his first trip to the Big Ten Championships. Musser was a three-time state champion at Walsh Jesuit High in Akron, Ohio and a member of USA Wrestling's Dream Team in 1994. He was also an Asics Tiger All-American and a Junior National All-American. |
