NEWS 

DANGEROUS E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS:
Effective Dec. 7, UNI e-mail servers will block incoming attachments that are considered dangerous. Attachments are considered dangerous if they are directly executable scripts or programs that may contain a virus and should not generally be transfered using e-mail. Some examples of attachments that will be blocked are ".exe," ".pif," and ".scr." For more information, http://www.uni.edu/its/us/faqs/email/email24.htm

STUDENT SURVEY ON ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIOS AVAILABLE THROUGH DEC. 22:
Check MyUNIverse announcements for a survey on electronic portfolios. The survey is being conducted by ITS-Educational Technology to acquire an understanding of UNI students’ awareness and perceived value of electronic portfolios. The survey will only take a few minutes but will impact decisions concerning a potentially significant service to students.

ATTENTION ALL BUSINESS STUDENTS – CBA TALENT SEARCH:
The CBA Presidents Council Talent Search Committee is looking for talented business students to perform at the CBA Graduation Celebration, in the GBPAC on Wednesday, April 6. There are prizes for 1st ($1,000), 2nd ($600) and 3rd ($300) place performers. Tryouts are going to be held in February, sign up for a slot in the Deans Office (CBB 325). visit http://www.cba.uni.edu or e-mail mameyer@uni.edu with any questions you might have. NOTE: Performers must be business students. If a group is trying out at least one student must be in the School of Business. This competition is also for fine art displays. Artists displaying their work at the CBA Graduation Celebration will receive $100.

OUTSTANDING GRADUATE FACULTY TEACHING AWARD:
This award recognizes full-time members of the regular graduate faculty for outstanding teaching. It includes a $500 prize. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 24, 2005. "The Money Game", a fun, interactive presentation about students and money will be Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Sabin 103. Students will learn the "rules" of winning The Money Game by presenters who've gone from financial misery to financial mastery in their 20's. Come see the show that MTV is so interested in sponsoring. Learn the positive money choices you can make in college to set yourself up for financial success. The UNI Athletic Dept
will host a used-clothing sale on Friday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the UNI-Dome. Athletic wear available includes jerseys, warm-ups, T-shirts, shorts, sweats, tank tops, shoes and coats. All items are pre-priced and sold "as is." Payment must be made in cash or good check before removal. No advance sales or preview. Enter only through the north Dome tunnel.
