MCLEOD CENTER DRIVE REACHES MILESTONE: The Students First Campaign's McLeod Center fundraising goal has been met. The UNI Foundation will continue to raise funds to include enhancements that will allow the facility to be even more versatile for the university and community including a kitchen, retractable seating and a Hall of Fame connector. IOWA CAUCUS INFORMATION: Iowa Caucuses 2004 Web page,
, linked from the What's New section of the library's home page. The site provides links to calendars, caucus FAQs and news sites, the official Web pages of the Democratic contenders, and lists of relevant materials in the library's collections.

Beginning January 2004, catering and meeting space at the Commons and Maucker Union can be reserved two years in advance. This is a change from the previous one-year-out policy. Reservations for 2004 and 2005 will be accepted beginning Jan. 5 when campus offices open after the holiday break. SPRING FINANCIAL AID REFUND CHECKS: Refunds from overpayment of u-bills as a result of Financial Aid will be mailed to "local" addresses on Jan. 8, 2004. If a local address is not listed, it will go to "home" addresses. Refunds will be sent home if students have requested that their bills/refunds be sent to their parents. Addresses must be correct no later than Dec. 22.
1098T TAX DOCUMENTS: for the 2003 year will be mailed to "home" addresses Jan. 12, 2004 and will be available online shortly after that.
REGENTS UNIVERSITIES IOWA JOB FAIR: 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines. An opportunity for students to pursue internships and full-time employment opportunities. A resume critiquing service will also be available. IRONMAN TRIATHLON: The WRS Ironman Triathlon Challenge, a fitness incentive program, will take place during the spring semester. Three different events will be offered: traditional challenge, non-swimmers, and double challenge. Registration begins Jan. 26.
STIPEND/SCHOLARSHIP TRACKING AVAILABLE: Students who have a Graduate Assistantship Stipend and/or a Graduate College Tuition Scholarship can now track processing through two new WebCT sites -- Graduate Assistantship Tracking and Graduate College Scholarship Tracking. Access these sites at http://webct.uni.edu If you have not yet used WebCT, click on the "UNI Student - Enrolled in On-Campus Course" link for information to set up account password. With the availability of these sites, reminder notices will no longer be sent through the mail.

IRTS-SEC222 HOLIDAY INTERIM: All IRTS computer labs and Curriculum Library will be closing at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 and will re-open at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12.

UNI MUSEUMS' A-Z INSTITUTE "I" DAY: Dec. 22, 9-noon, at the University Museum. Come and learn about Ireland, taste some traditional food, learn to dance and count to 10 in Irish Gaelic. For children grades K-6. Registration fee is $15 for Friends of the Museums members; $20 for nonmenbers. Fee includes supplies, snacks, certificate and A-Z Institute t-shirt. Register by Dec. 15.
JESTERS, JUGGLERS & JONGLEURS: Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. - noon. Learn about Medieval entertainers, try tossing balls, playing Medieval music, singing and writing ballads and telling jokes. Local juggler and professor Dean Franzen will teach and entertain.
MUSEUMS' A-Z INSTITUTE CHILDREN'S PROGRAM: "Kingdom Animalia," Dec. 29, 9 a.m. - noon. Learn how scientists sort or classify animals from "kingdom" all the way to "species," design and classify your own new species and spend time sketching the Museum's critters. Register by Dec. 24
LORDS AND LADIES: Dec. 30, 9 a.m. - noon. Learn about life during Elizabethan times, design a coat of arms, practice Elizabethan speech, discover some famous Elizabethans, learn about their contributions to modern society and plan a modern banquet. Come in costume if you wish. Register by Dec. 24.
FACULTY SENATE MEETING: Monday, Jan. 12, 3:15-5 p.m. in the State College Room in Maucker Union. Consideration of at least a portion of the new curriculum proposals is likely. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, e-mail heston@uni.edu
