UNI:
V-Week UNI is Feb. 10-14. Participate in a worldwide movement to end
violence against women and girls. Events include:
Monday, Feb. 10: Rape Free Zone Campaign and Proclamation Ceremony,
at noon, in Maucker Union.
Tuesday, Feb. 11: Reproductive Health Fair, at 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. in
the Hemisphere Lounge, Maucker Union. Speaker, Dr. Michael Kimmel,

Wednesday, Feb. 12: Panel Discussion: Student Survivors of Sexual
Assault, at 7 p.m. in SRL 115.
Thursday, Feb. 13: Create Your Own Vagina Workshop, at 11 a.m. - 2
p.m., in the Hemisphere Lounge, Maucker Union; Benefit Bands, The
Reverb, 9:30 p.m..
Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15: Benefit production of "The
Vagina Monologues," 8 p.m. Lang Hall Auditorium and benefit Art
Show Lang 040 (Interpreters Theater) before and after the show. Tickets

BUDGET PACKETS:
NISG budget packets for fiscal year 2003-2004 are currently available.
All recognized student organizations interested in applying for funds
for next year can pick up a packet at the NISG office (103 SCC) or

LEGISLATIVE
FORUM:
A Legislative Public Forum hosted by numerous local agencies and organizations,
including UNI, takes place Friday, Jan. 31, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at Area
Education Agency 7 Building, 3712 Cedar Heights Drive, Cedar Falls.
The public is invited to hear remarks from area legislators and ask
questions. UNI faculty, staff, alumni, students and friends are encouraged
to show their support of UNI.

UNI
PSYCHOLOGIST IN THE NEWS: An assistant professor in
the department of psychology was quoted in a feature about gender
differences in the brain and hormonal influences on behavior. Catherine
DeSoto was interviewed by First for Women for a story appearing in
the Jan. 13 issue. The magazine is available at most local news outlets.

E-MAIL ACCOUNTS TO BE REMOVED:
UNI e-mail accounts for students not registered for the spring semester
are disabled, archived to tape, and removed from the server after
the end of the third week of classes. This year, that process will
begin Monday, Feb. 3.

Registrations are being accepted in the Management and Professional
Development Centers Business and Management Certificate Program
to begin Feb. 10. The five-month, 80-hour program is designed
along the lines of an abridged MBA and is geared toward those new
to management or technical professionals moving into management who
want to improve their business skills. Sessions will be held twice

LECTURE
ON PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND WELLNESS BY VISITING SCHOLAR.
Dr. Ming-Kai Chin, recipient of the 2003 Monica Wild and Doris White
Scholar Award, will present a lecture to the public on "Promotion
of Physical Activity and Wellness in Schools and Community: An Asian
Pacific Perspective." The lecture and presentation of the award
will take place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the UNI Commons Ballroom.

LECTURE:
Artist Deborah Zlotsky will present a lecture about her artwork on Wednesday,
Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kamerick Art Building Art Auditorium, room
111. An opening reception will follow. This lecture is funded in part
by the Martha Ellen Tye Visiting Artist/Scholar Series. Free and open

CHUCK
D VISIT: Chuck D, the seminal rap artist and Internet
visionary, will speak Jan. 29, 7:30 p.m. in the Lang Hall Auditorium.
His talk is supported by the Meryl Norton Hearst Chair in the College
of Humanities and Fine Arts, created by an endowment from James Schell
Hearst, author, poet and professor of creative writing at UNI from 1941
until his retirement in 1975. The event is free and open to the public.

MUSEUM EXHIBIT: Music is an international language signified
by the instruments in "A World of Music: Instruments from Many
Cultures." Many styles of instruments from various countries, some
dating back hundreds, even thousands, of years are represented in this
display. This exhibit opens Feb. 1 and runs through May 31. An opening
