COMMENCEMENT
RECEPTIONS: Each of UNI's colleges will host receptions
immediately following their respective commencement ceremonies. The

IN THE NEWS:
Donna Thompson, director of UNI's National Program for Playground
Safety (NPPS), will be interviewed on NBC's Today Show on Monday,
May 6. Next week is child safety week on the Today Show. NPPS was
recently featured on the Early Show on CBS.

CONSTRUCTION
NOTICE - 30TH STREET RECONSTRUCTION: 30th Street between
Ilinois Street and Ohio Street will be closed for reconstruction beginning
Monday, May 13. The construction period is expected to last 6 weeks
and weather permitting, the street will reopen to traffic in late
June. Once the reconstruction has been completed and the street is
open, traffic flow is designated to be ONE-WAY west bound.

PARKING PERMITS AVAILABLE ONLINE:
Parking permits for the 2002-2003 year can be ordered online through
August 15. The application link is available via MyUNIverse. Log in
to MyUNIverse at http://myuniverse.uni.edu.
In "Current Announcements" (upper left corner of the page) click on
"Parking Permits". You will again be prompted to log in using your
social security number and PIN. The parking permit application will
then be available for your completion. If there are any questions
regarding the application, contact the Parking Division of Public
Safety, 3-2710. Parking permits will be processed and billed in August.
Changes can be made to a current application until August 1st.

CHANGES
REGARDING USE OF 15-PASSENGER VANS
-- The following changes are in response to National Highway Traffic
Administration safety warnings regarding fully loaded 15-passenger
vans. Beginning with the May term, drivers of leased 15-passenger
vans will be required to have a CDL (commercial driver's license).
If the driver does not have a CDL, the UNI motor pool will have a
limited number of 15-passenger vans available that have the rear seat
removed -- which limits the number of passengers to 10. For more information,

WEB DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE 2002:
A Web site development conference for users who already have a basic
knowledge of html and some experience developing a Web site will be
offered at UNI Friday, June 7. The conference was planned by a cross-section
of campus web developers to help anyone who designs, plans, or maintains
a Web site expand their skills (not an entry-level conference). For

Offered September 21. The registration deadline is August 13. Sample

FROM HOME: Dining Services wants to feature some "recipes
from home" next year to celebrate our diversity. Faculty, staff
& students may submit a recipe from their culture or a family
favorite. Submit by May 15, 2002, for consideration. Selected recipes

EXHIBITION:
The UNI Gallery of Art presents the BFA Exhibition through May 11.
The graduating artists will host a reception on May 10 from 6 - 8
p.m. Six artists are participating in this exhibition in partial fulfillment
of their Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees: Molly I. Brauhn, Gillian G.
Christy, William Pendry, Stephanie Sailer, Ann Schwab, and Crystal
Weiss. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

DEAN OF LIBRARY SERVICES PRESENTATION
OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS: Students are invited to attend the

The Friends of KUNI/KHKE host the 17th annual "Evening in Celebration
of Wine and Tulips" Saturday, May 11 at 6 p.m. in Maucker Union. Over
200 domestic and imported wines can be sampled, plus midwest cheeses.

auction of art and gift items. Fresh cut tulips and jazz by the Bob
