NISG ELECTIONS: The Northern Iowa Student Government will be holding its annual Spring 2002 election for student body president and vice president as well as senators for the 2002-2003 school term This Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6:00 A.M. on February 26 until 6:00 P.M. on February 27 online at nisgvote.uni.edu. All students are strongly encouraged to take a few minutes during this 36-hour period to vote on who will carry their voice through the UNI and larger Cedar Valley community as well as at the state lobbying level. AUDITIONS FOR "EXTRA-CURRICULAR: A NOVEL OF RAPE ON CAMPUS": Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday Feb. 25 and 26 at 7:00 in the Interpreters Theatre. This novel, written by Anne Hasselbrack, focuses on the story of two rape survivors. Roles are available for approximately 10 women and 5 men. No preparation or prior experience is needed. The production dates are April 17, 18, 19, and 20.

NORTH AMERICAN COLLEGIATE ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS: it is time again for the North American Collegiate Entrepreneur Awards. The program recognizes outstanding undergraduate entrepreneurs who are simultaneously attending college and running a business. Students could win at the regional level and advance to the national level where a $10,000 winner will be selected. The application deadline is March 1, 2002. CHEMISTRY STUDENTS TO FLY IN NASA'S VOMIT COMET: Chemistry majors Adam Brustkern, Kelly Boss, Jon Jansen and Kate Leibold and faculty adviser Shoshanna Coon were featured in a Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier article Monday, February 18. The group will be going to NASA's Johnson Space Center in April, where the students will perform an electrochemistry experiment aboard a plane that dives to create zero-gravity. Norman Schwarzkopf address taking place at UNI Saturday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. have been sold. UNIPA SCHOLARSHIPS: The University of Northern Iowa Parent Association (UNIPA) will award five scholarships to undergraduate students for the 2002-2003 school year. A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student from each undergraduate college. Scholarships will be directly credited toward tuition, half in fall 2002 and half in spring 2003. MINORITY BUSINESS COMPETITION: The University of Northern Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center is sponsoring a minority business plan competition for a new minority business start-up in the Cedar Valley (this means a new business, owned and operated by a minority, located in Iowa preferably the Cedar Valley). This competition is in conjunction with KBBG Radio and the UNI Regional Business Center. A complete business plan and submission form must be submitted to the JPEC in the Curris Business Building on the UNI campus or the UNI Regional Business Center at 212 E. Fourth Street in Waterloo by March 25, 2002. A $5,000 seed grant will be awarded to the winner, who will be announced at the annual KBBG banquet in May.
