Applications are being accepted for undergraduate and graduate prospective
and declared accounting majors. Other criteria: be at least sophomore
standing the fall of 2002; demonstrate financial need as determined
by federal guidelines; minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA; strong leadership
and citizenship qualities. Value: Undergraduate - tuition & fees,
room & board, and books. Graduate - in-state tuition. Deadline: March

THE
U.S. FOREIGN SERVICE OFFICER WRITTEN EXAMINATION
is going to be offered twice this year: April 13 and September 21.
The registration deadlines are March 11, 2002 for the April 13 test
date; August 13, 2002 for the September 21, 2002 test date. Sample
registration forms are available in the Career Center Library (Government
Employment binder). Interesteed students with international experience

CERTIFIED PUBLIC
ACCOUTANT SCHOLARSHIP: Liberal arts students wishing to
pursue graduate accounting study can receive financial aid through
the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) John
L. Carey Scholarship Program. Scholarships are given based on academic
achievement, leadership, future career interests and acceptance into
a graduate accounting program. Scholarships are for $5,000 and are
renewable for one year. Additional information can be obtained from

provided by Educational Technology-Graphics. This process works well
for preserving and improving the durability of posters, maps, newspaper

UNIPA
SCHOLARSHIPS: The
University of Northern Iowa Parent Association (UNIPA) will award
five scholarships to undergraduate students for the 2002-2003 school
year. A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student from each undergraduate
college. Scholarships will be directly credited toward tuition, half
in fall 2002 and half in spring 2003. If interested, pick up an application
in 205 Commons or Financial Aid Office. Applications are due by 4
p.m. Feb. 28th.

2002/CO-OP ORIENTATION INFORMATION SESSIONS:
Students seeking credit-bearing internship opportunities can view

FAMILY
OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS: If
you believe your family members have made you what you are today or
want to show them just how special they are to you, pick up an application
in to 205 Commons, the Admissions Office or Student Activities Office
in the Union and nominate them for Family of the Year . The selection
process will occur in spring 2002. The winning family will be honored
during the Stephen F. Austin game on Sept. 21, during Family Weekend.
Applications are due by noon on April 5th.

MINORITY
BUSINESS COMPETITION:
The University of Northern Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center
is sponsoring a minority business plan competition for a new minority
business start-up in the Cedar Valley (this means a new business,
owned and operated by a minority, located in Iowa preferably the Cedar
Valley). This competition is in conjunction with KBBG Radio and the
UNI Regional Business Center. A complete business plan and submission
form must be submitted to the JPEC in the Curris Business Building
on the UNI campus or the UNI Regional Business Center at 212 E. Fourth
Street in Waterloo by March 25, 2002. A $5,000 seed grant will be
awarded to the winner, who will be announced at the annual KBBG banquet
