NOTICE
TO ALL AIR TRAVELERS: The FAA has mandated the use
of paper tickets and photo ID. If you have an electronic ticket for
upcoming travel, contact immediately the place of purchase and replace
it with a hard copy ticket. It is not known at this time whether this
is a temporary or permanent condition. Short's Travel is attempting
to contact all their ticketed travelers including those caught on the
road. However there may be tickets that have been purchased elsewhere.
Any tickets that have been purchased over the internet may no longer
be valid, and may not be exchangeable. Air travel will be very limited.

BLOOD DRIVE: The
American Red Cross has been overrun with donors. If you wish to donate
blood this week, call ahead for an appointment: (319) 234-6831. The
annual UNI/American Red Cross blood drive will take place as scheduled
from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tues., Sept. 18, in the Maucker Union Expansion.
The 9-10 a.m. hour has been reserved for faculty and staff.

FOOD DRIVE:
Canned goods and non-perishable items are now being accepted for the
families and victims of the recent tragedies. Items can be dropped off
in Maucker Union (information table next to Union Station) through Friday,
September 21. Questions, call 273-2683.

O.R. LATHAM STADIUM:
The Rod Library Special Collections Division has just made available
a brief Web history of O. R. Latham Stadium, UNI's football field before
the construction of the Dome. The Stadium was located west of the West
Gymnasium. For a number of years, it included a men's dormitory. If

STUDENT
FORUM ON BINGE DRINKING: The Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Commission
will meet at 2:00 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 19 in Expansion A of the Maucker
Union. This meeting includes a student forum on binge drinking. Student,
faculty and staff are invited to give public comment on both underage
access to alcohol and cheap drink promotions. Comments must be limited

IVCC:
The Iowa Venture Capital Conferece will be held at the Polk County
Convention Complex in Des Moines on Sept. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30
p.m. The IVCC is an opportunity for entrepreneurs, students, and others
to network, attend informative workshops, and learn from prominent
entrepreneurs. Free admission and free transportation provided for

NEW GUINEA:
LESSONS FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EARTH: John Edward Terrell,
Ph.D., New Guinea Research Program, The Field Museum, September 24,
7:30 p.m. KAB Auditorium. The people of New Guinea Island in the South
Pacific have been called the earth's last living survivors from the
Stone Age. However, the truth about this island--the second largest
in the world--is sometimes not only stranger than fiction, but can
free us from some of our oldest beliefs and prejudices about race,
language, culture, economics, and politics.
