We are very pleased to announced that Carla (Venteicher) Ramsey (Music, '02, '09) will serve as our Alumni Coordinator beginning this year. A very special thanks to Matt Thurman, who was the first person to serve in this capacity. Matt will continue to serve our alumni group and we thank him very much for his support!
FROM PMB ALUMNI COORDINATOR CARLA RAMSEY:
"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."
(or, if you're a recent alum: "...in an ancient and now-forgotten land...")
Remember those words? Remember the excitement of hearing the drumline play "Largo" and getting pumped up for run-on? Remember all the fun and excitement of Panther football and all of the memorable times with your friends? Remember the first time you got TUBAFIED?!
Our legacy as PMB alumni lives on in the 2011 edition of the University of Northern Iowa "Panther" Marching Band. What we started is now being continued by an astonishing 240 members, the largest PMB ever! While it's amazing that there is such a large number of students now participating in marching band, we as alums need to remember that we also still have a role in the PMB. These current students will someday be in our shoes as alumni, and it will be us welcoming them into our family, just as we were welcomed into the PMB by those who came before us.
I greatly hope that you will be able to attend our homecoming festivities. I know that all of the students love hearing stories from our days in the PMB, and it's a great opportunity for us to reconnect with each other. Remember, that even as alums, we are still "the pride, the strength, and the character of the University of Northern Iowa!"
GO PANTHERS!

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE PANTHER MARCHING BAND:
It is a great honor to once again invite the alumns of the Panther Marching Band to campus for Homecoming Weekend! Last year's event was outstanding, and our current students really enjoyed seeing you back on campus. We are all looking forward to having you back on campus in 2011! This year we will try something a little different than in previous seasons. Rather than having lunch, we will instead have a reception between PMB rehearsal and the game. This will allow you more time to tailgate and see the parts of campus that you wish to visit during the day on Saturday.
I am also very pleased to have as our guest speaker Ms. Dyan (Baker) Meyer. Dyan was married to former PMB Director Dr. John Baker before his untimely death in October of 2001. This year marks the 10th anniversary of that tragic occasion. As many of you already know, Dr. Baker suffered an aneurysm at a UNI football game in September, 2001, and passed away as a result. Dyan is very excited to be able to share her memories of Dr. Baker and the PMB under his direction with you and our current students. I am told that Dyan will also bring their children, and I suspect you will be amazed at how they have grown over the years! She will speak to the band and to alums at our rehearsal, which begins at 1:00pm on Saturday. They will also attend the reception that follows rehearsal.
I initiated the Alumni gathering in 2008 because I wanted to make sure that graduating students and alumns still felt like a strong connection to the PMB family! I hope you will consider attending our Homecoming events this year - it is important to all of us here at UNI to continue our increasingly strong relationship with our alumns!
