Josh Armstrong is a percussionist and educator who currently resides in Cedar Falls, Iowa where he is the Temporary Instructor of Percussion Studies at The University of Northern Iowa. He holds a bachelors degree in music education and a master’s degree in music performance from Texas Tech University. While at Tech, his duties included teaching the front ensemble for The Goin’ Band From Raiderland, teaching private lessons, teaching percussion methods classes, and teaching the second steel band. While there he also taught drumlines at Coronado High School, and Lubbock High School, and also taught the Iles Elementary steel drum band, the “Panjammers.” He is currently pursuing a doctor of musical arts degree from The University of Arizona where he directed the Steel Drum Bands as well as teaching private lessons and percussion ensemble. He has performed with the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra, the Midland Symphony Orchestra, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Other performances include The Percussive Arts Society International Conference (PASIC) in 2006 and 2003, as well as the 2004 Texas Music Educators Association Conference, and the 2004 Organization of American Kodaly Educators Conference in Las Vegas. He also served for four years on the PAS Collegiate Committee.
