Julien Guenebaut, piano

September 20th, 2007 - 8 p.m.

Guest Artist Julien Guenebaut, piano, will visit the School of Music for a recital. Guenebaut attended the esteemed National Conservatory in Paris and has performed recitals and led orchestras throughout France and the world. This event is free and open to the public.

Christopher Dudley, trombone

September 22nd, 2007 - 7:30 p.m.
Davis Hall, GBPAC

Guest artist Christopher Dudley, trombone, will offer a master class and performance at UNI Trombone Day 2007. Dudley will be joined by UNI professor of trombone Christopher Buckholz who will direct the event and perform in the evening concert at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Keith Johnson, trumpet

October 10th, 2007 - 8:00 p.m.

Guest Artist Keith Johnson, trumpet, will visit the UNI School of Music and offer a recital performance open to all students and the public. Keith Johnson is the Regents Professor of Trumpet at the University of North Texas, and is known as a top teacher, performer and author. His book, THE ART OF TRUMPET PLAYING, is well known as a text book in many colleges and universities. This event is free and open to the public.

Leone Buyse, flute & Michael Webster, clarinet

March 4th, 2008 - 8:00 p.m.

Leone Buyse, flute, is a seasoned performer and Professor of Flute at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. Michael Webster, clarinet, also a skilled performer and Professor of Clarinet at Rice University, serves as Artistic Director of the Houston Youth Symphony. Both artists will come together to offer both master classes and a recital to UNI School of Music students and the public. This event is free and open to the public.

Helen Callus, viola

March 8th, 2008 - 8:00 p.m.
Davis Hall, GBPAC

Helen Callus, violist, currently serves as Associate Professor of Viola at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a noted recording artist, guest recitalist and chamber music collaborator. This performance will be free and open to the public.


Meryl Norton Hearst Visiting Artist Series

The School of Music is proud to host the 2007-2008 Meryl Norton Hearst Series Artists. This year, we are thrilled to announce the residency of two outstandingly talented and diverse artists who will be joining us at UNI.

Samuel Adler, composer/conductor

November 26-30th, 2007

Having studied with Hindemith and Copland, Samuel Adler is the composer of over 400 published works, including 5 operas, 6 symphonies, 12 concerti and many other orchestral, band, chamber, choral works, and songs, which have been performed all over the world. His full-week residency will include master classes, lectures, a chamber works concert and the Spotlight Series Samuel Adler Showcase on Tuesday, November 27th in the Great Hall, GBPAC.

Maria Schneider, composer/conductor

April 18-21st, 2008

Renowned jazz composer-conductor and Grammy-award winner Maria Schneider, whose self-produced album Concert in the Garden was the first ever internet-only release to win a Grammy, will join with UNI's Jazz Band One to offer a Spotlight Series concert on April 21st wrapping up her 4-day residency. Schneider's visit will also include a master class/lecture open to all School of Music students and supporters. For more details on Maria's visit, please click here.
