Festivals, workshops and camps at the UNI School of Music offer a window into our workings. Whether you're interested in a master class feel where you can get hands-on experience with your instrument and our amazing faculty, or you'd like to sit back and listen to some of our most talented ensembles and performers, our festivals and special events will offer an opportunity that is right for you.

All State Wind, Brass and Percussion Workshops

The UNI School of Music presents its annual hands-on workshops for high school student instrumentalists preparing for All-State competition. This event is free and open to the public, but does require registration. Click here for more information and to register!

UNI Brass Day

Sunday, September 27, 2015, all day
Bengtson Auditorium, Russell Hall

The UNI School of Music presents a brand new, day-long event for brass players. Events will include brass master classes as part of our All State Brass Workshop, as well as interactive sessions with UNI faculty artists and a 5 p.m. final concert featuring participating students in like-instrument ensembles as well as in a large massed ensemble. Vocal Arts Festival

The UNI School of Music presents its annual Vocal Arts Festival for high school student vocalists preparing for All-State competition and interested in vocal music at UNI. Piano & Vocal Festival

UNI Viola Festival

Coordinated by faculty artist Julia Bullard, the UNI Viola Festival will offer hands on workshops as well as guest artist performances. A festival concert will be held featuring guest artist Basil Vendryes, viola. For more details, contact Julia.Bullard@uni.edu. This event is free and open to the public.

UNI Clarinet Choir Day

Saturday, November 8, 2015, all day

This day-long event will feature hands-on workshops and engaging activities for clarinetists and clarinet choirs. For more information, click here

Northern Festival of Bands

Thursday - Saturday, February 11-13, 2016
Russell Hall & GBPAC

The Northern Festival of Bands is an annual honor band festival open to high school band students which typically hosts over 40 schools and over 250 individual students in a weekend long event. This year the festival will be held February 11-13, 2016. The event will feature performances by the UNI Wind Symphony and UNI Symphonic Band on Friday evening as well as Saturday afternoon’s performance featuring solo competition winners, the festival’s percussionist groups, Festival Concert Band and Festival Symphony Band.

Tallcorn Jazz Festival

The Beta Nu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the UNI School of Music invite you and your band to the 60th Annual Tallcorn Jazz Festival and 64th Sinfonian Dimensions in Jazz Concerts to be held on February 19 and 20, 2015, on the UNI campus. UNI Reed Day

School of Music faculty artists Amanda McCandless, Ann BradfieldHeather Peyton and Cayla Bellamy will coordinate and appear as clinicians at this event. Guest clinicians Eunhye Grace Choi, piano (Tennessee Tech University), Wonkak Kim, clarinet (Tennesee Tech University), Carrie Koffman, saxophone (University of Hartford),William Ludwig, bassoon (Indiana University) and Keri McCarthy, oboe (Washington State University) will also appear as clinicians and performers.
