Panther Band Day

Panther Band Day is ideal for entire marching bands or individual high school band students in grades 9-12. Our goal is to create an outstanding, positive, and friendly musical and social experience for high school band students! We hope you will enjoy the fellowship with other band students throughout the state and the fantastic performance of a massive band, playing to one of the most appreciative audiences in the country! Teacher Appreciation Day

UNI faculty artists John Len Wiles and Amy Kotsonis will coordinate this event celebrating music educators and featuring guest artist André Thomas. Thomas is an American composer and conductor, currently serving as professor of music at Florida State University and the artistic director for the Tallahassee Community Chorus. Midwest Violin Caucus

UNI faculty artist Ross Winter will coordinate this day-long event for violinists. Exceptional guest artist Laurie Smukler will appear. Smukler made her debut with the Cleveland Orchestra at the age of fourteen. A graduate of Juilliard, where she studied with Ivan Galamian, she was a founding member of the Mendelssohn String Quartet, and currently serves on the faculty at the Juilliard School. UNI Bass Jamboree

Northern Festival of Bands

Thursday - Saturday, February 9-11, 2017
Russell Hall & GBPAC

The Northern Festival of Bands is an annual honor band festival open to high school band students which typically hosts over 40 schools and over 250 individual students in a weekend long event. This year the festival will be held February 9-11, 2017. The event will feature performances by the UNI Wind Symphony and UNI Symphonic Band on Friday evening as well as Saturday afternoon’s performance featuring solo competition winners, the festival’s percussionist groups, Festival Concert Band and Festival Symphony Band.

Tallcorn Jazz Festival

The Beta Nu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the UNI School of Music invite you and your band to the 62nd Annual Tallcorn Jazz Festival and 66th Sinfonian Dimensions in Jazz Concerts to be held on February 17 and 18, 2016, on the UNI campus.
