The Women's Chorus holds the distinction of having the longest on going performance tradition on campus with a heritage that reaches back to the university's beginnings as the Iowa State Teachers College. The Women's Chorus performs fine choral literature representative of various style periods and vocal traditions. This ensemble is available to both music majors and non-music majors and brings together musically interested students from across campus.
The primary function of this organization is to provide a musical outlet and artistic choral experience for its members which culminates in a public performance. In addition, further development within the areas of musical skills, independence, awareness, and understanding will be promoted within the context of an interactive rehearsal environment.
