All majors are required to audition each semester. Failure to appear at the designated time may affect your applied music registration and your status as a music major. However, you are not required to audition for a jazz band. If you prefer NOT to audition for the jazz bands, please let us know and we will remove your name from the list. If you have an unresolvable conflict with your audition time, please contact us, and we will see about an alternate time.

Wind players should prepare 5 to 6 minutes of music which best represents your abilities . . . solos, etudes, technical studies, etc. Please include contrasting styles. There will also be some sight-reading. Percussionists should prepare material for snare drum, mallet instruments, and timpani . . . there will not be sight-reading for you.

For those students who are participating in the Marching Band Camp, you will be excused 40 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time in order to get to the PAC and have a few minutes before your audition. Dr. Galyen and Ms. Venteicher (Graduate Assistant) will have a complete listing of audition times. Please check with them . . . or their designee . . . before leaving rehearsal. When your audition is completed, you should return to the marching band rehearsal.
