Classes for Babies though Senior Citizens
Activities held in the UNI School of Music Facilities on the UNI Campus
Kindermusik Ages: 3 months – 5 years
Kindermusik is a world-wide, award winning, music and movement program with morning and evcning classes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, and multi-age for siblings. As children move and groove to the beat, imaginations begin to flow, budding musicians are nurtured and all areas of child development are stimulated in fun, creative ways.

Little Mozart Piano Program Ages: 4-5 years
Written specifically for the preschool age group, the Music for Little Mozarts series provides a balance between the discipline necessary for playing the piano and the enjoyment children receive from the process of music making. The course centers on the adventures of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse as they learn about music. Weekly private lessons may begin at any time during the year. Monthly Lesson Fee: $57.

Musicmania and Me !!!! Ages K – 3rd Grades
Musicmania and Me! is based on Orff pedagogy and incorporates basic Orff percussion instruments, dance, drama, and improvised movement activities to music. Fall and Spring Sessions: 10 weeks/ $50. Parent Performance at last class.

Camp Musicmania K-8TH Grades
2011 Camp Musicmania will focus on Orff activities for K-4th Grades. Upper elementary and middle school ages will focus primarily on the presentation of a camp musical. All campers will be involved in music and movement activities, singing, dancing, drama, and art as well as the Camp Musical. Parents and friends will be invited to the final performance on the last day of camp.
Cost: (Includes Camp T-shirt) $75
Camp Dates: June 13-June 17, 2011 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Bring a sack lunch. Snacks provided.

Private Lessons –Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Piano Ages: 1st Grade – Adults
Private lessons are offered on an individual basis to beginning –advanced students. Lessons are given year-round and students may start at any time during the year. Music theory basics and the development of technical and musical skills are included in lessons. Fall and spring recitals as well as preparation for festival participation are included in the lesson fees. Monthly Lesson Fee (30 minute lesson) $57

UNI Children’s Choir Second – Seventh Grades
UNICC is a performing vocal ensemble that provides an opportunity for children to make music together, further vocal development and perform high quality concerts. The choir performs two concerts per year as well as other arranged performances throughout eastern Iowa. Loving to sing and having fun are prerequisites! Thursdays 6:30-7:30 p.m. Semester Fee: $50

UNI New Horizons Band Adults 50+ years and older
UNI New Horizons Band is for adults who love music and want to play in a concert band. Members range from beginners through advanced players. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday mornings; group lesson @ 8 a.m.; full band rehearsal @ 9:00 a.m., social hour at 10 a.m. The band presents a winter and spring concert as well as concerts during the summer season. Semester Fee: $80

UNI Community Festival Drum Circle 4th – 9th Grades
The Festival Drum Circle introduces the basics of West African Drumming on authentic African Drums. The history and culture of West Africa is also explored as the participants form a drum circle where they improvise and create music using a variety of percussion instruments. No previous percussion experience necessary. Saturdays: 10:00 a.m.-Noon. Jubliee United Methodist Church East Fourth and Newell Streets Waterloo $50/12 week session
