Scholarship Benefit Concert 2011

Join us on World Tour! The University of Northern Iowa School of Music Cordially invites you to attend the 30th Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert Friday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.

Pack your bags and join us on a musical journey around the world. Prepare for a feast of the senses as you enjoy musical selections inspired by places near and far, as well as a dazzling post-concert champagne reception where the music and excitement of the evening continue!

Concert Performers and Reception Details


The Great Hall concert will feature outstanding UNI School of Music student musicians, along with exceptional faculty artists performing classical, jazz and opera favorites. For decades, the Scholarship Benefit Concerts have received rave reviews and standing ovations. This year's performers will include the UNI Opera Ensemble, the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Kaji-Daiko Taiko Drum Ensemble, Jazz Band One, faculty artist Sean Botkin, the UNI Symphonic Band with combined choral ensembles, the Northern Iowa Wind Symphony with the Varsity Men’s Glee Club, guest artist Sheri Greenawald and more!

As always, the end of the concert is only the beginning of the festivities. Plan to stay to for excellent hors d’oeuvres and a champagnge reception in the lobby. Post concert music will include the Hands of Time jazz quartet, faculty artists Julia Bullard, Frederick Halgedahl and Korey Barrett, and guest artists Hannah Holman, cello, and Peter McGuire, violin. *$45 of each ticket purchased is tax deductible (the remaining $5 is for champagne and hors d’oeuvres – “good received.”)
