As of July 1, the University Museum, building on Hudson Road will be closed to the public, and the administration of the UNI Museums will move from the Division of Continuing Education to the Rod Library. More details about changes for the UNI Museums...
Due to the budget crunch at UNI, the community outreach and education aspect at the UNI Museums has been eliminated. We will not be doing any more school field trips (other than those already scheduled) after Tuesday, May 1st. We will also not be checking out any more traveling trunks (other than those already scheduled) after Tuesday, May 1st. We hope to let you know very soon when and where they will be available for use during the 2012-2013 school year. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your support over the last 10 years!
Sincerely, Diane Schupbach

We all know that people look different. Throughout history, those differences have been a source of strength, community and personal identity. They have also been the basis for discrimination and oppression.
And while those differences are socially and culturally real, contemporary scientific understanding of race and human variation is complex and may challenge how we think about it. RACE: Are We So Different? helps visitors understand what race is and what it is not. It gives them the tools to recognize racial ideas and practices in contemporary American life.
The exhibit explores three themes: the everyday experience of race, the contemporary science that is challenging common ideas about race, and the history of this idea in the United States.
