The Museum will not be checking out any more traveling trunks (other than those already scheduled) after Tuesday, May 1st. We hope to let you know very soon when and where they will be available for use during the 2012-2013 school year. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your support over the last 10 years!

TRUNK: Tibet

The staff of the UNI Museums, together with the University of Northern Iowa, are pleased to announce the creation of two copies of a new traveling trunk to celebrate the upcoming visit of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama. These educational resources provide a way for area children to experience some aspects of his culture right here in the Cedar Valley.

Each trunk features daily life in Tibet, Tibetan Buddhism, and the Dalai Lama himself.  Area educators may reserve a Tibet trunk by e-mailing Education Coordinator, Diane Schupbach, at diane.schupbach@uni.edu. The trunks may be checked out from the UNI Museums for two weeks at a time, on a first-come, first-serve basis. A $5 usage fee per traveling trunk will apply.

The Tibet trunks are filled with hands-on items and artifacts, books, and activities which connect to many areas of the social studies section of the Iowa Core Curriculum.
