Heritage Recipes: Sharing Your Stories

UNI Museums will be hosting a recipe contest in conjunction with its upcoming exhibit, Slow Food to Fast Food: The Way Iowans Ate, June 8–August 15.

Submit your favorite old-fashioned family recipe, along with a heartwarming story and even a photo if you like. We want to hear about learning to bake your grandmother's famous apple pie, sitting down for holiday dinner with a scrumptious corn bread dressing or the painstaking detail your mother took in preparing your family's favorite dish. Any type of recipe will do -- breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert -- we want to hear every yummy detail.

Starting June 15, museum staff will choose one featured recipe winner per week for nine weeks. Each week the winning recipe and story will be posted on this web page, Facebook page and in the Cedar Falls Times.

Each weekly winner will receive a gift package courtesy of G&R Publishing and CQ Products, Waverly, Iowa.

There is no deadline to submit, but the sooner the better! UNI Museums will continue to accept entries through Aug. 7, 2009. Participants may submit up to a total of three recipes during the contest. Remember, this is an ongoing contest, don't wait to submit your recipes.

To enter, submit recipe, story and photo along with your name, mailing address, and phone number to the University Museum, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0199 or email it to jori.wade-booth@uni.edu.
