Seasons

The changing location of the Sun is shown in several ways. The image on the left is the view of the Earth as seen from the Sun - another way of thinking of this, this is where the Sun is directly overhead. To get a sense of the season, look to see if the North or South Pole are visible.
The second view shows a person who will point to the Noon Sun (not to scale of course). As the person's latitude changes, and the days of the year change, the location of the noon time Sun will change as well.
The third item shows how the Earth is lit from the Sun (represented by the arrow at far right). The poles of the Earth and the Earth's equator is shown along with a little line showing the position of the person.
