Dates to take Comps and Submit Research Paper

Note: This document is a supplement to the "Procedural Guide For Graduate Students in the Department of Modern Languages." [Currently under revision.] Its sole intent is to establish policies and procedures for the graduate programs in Spanish not specified by the DML document.

Important: Students should not make any plans (purchase ticket or make any other arrangements) until they know their research paper is “approved to take comps.”

STARTING FALL 2008

Dates to submit research paper and take comps:

Students planning to take comps need to submit their paper as an attachment to Dr. Rosell (sara.rosell@uni.edu) or by regular mail (postmarked by the dates indicated) to:

*Be aware that Professor Rosell will not necessarily be the reader, but will distribute the papers to professors specializing in the area covered in the research papers.

Fall: Students can take comps only from October 1-November 15.

Students must submit the research paper by August 1 and will receive notification of approval by September 10. In order to graduate in December, must sent the final copy by November 1.

Spring: Students can take comps only from February 15-April 15 (excluding Spring Break).
Students must submit the research paper by December 1 and will receive notification by January 15. In order to graduate in May, they must send the final copy by April 1.

Summer: Comps can be taken only in Santiago and Querétaro. Dates will be announced along with the UNISSIST schedule.

Students must submit the research paper by March 1 and will receive notification of approval by April 1. 

Students taking comps in the summer will graduate in December. and must send the final copy of their research paper by November 1.

Please, use the checklist that applies to you to make sure you are following all steps to graduate.
