Sixth International Symposium
on Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching
in Bejing-Shanghai,
People's Republic of China

Theme: Language Teaching and Skill Development
When: August 7 - 15, 2004

 
Aug. 7 Arrival in Beijing
Aug. 8 - 9 Plenary and group sessions for paper presentations, seminars and workshops
Aug. 10 Visits to places of historical interest (One evening performance of the Beijing Opera or equivalent between Oct. 8 - 10)
Aug. 11 Sightseeing in the morning and flight to Shanghai in the afternoon
Aug. 12 - 13 Conference in Shanghai, with a night tour of the Bund and the new Pudong District
Aug. 14 Tour of New Shanghai with some evening entertainment if possible
Aug. 15 Departure

Location: Beijing and/or Shanghai

Deadline for submissions: May 31, 2004

Abstract requirements: Papers are invited for a 20-minute presentation in all areas of second or foreign language teaching and skill development and from any theoretical perspective. Send one copy of a one-page abstract for review. (There may be an additional page for references.) The abstract must specify which meeting you wish to attend (Beijing or Shanghai or both), title of paper, author’s name, academic affiliation, current and summer address, phone and fax number, e-mail, and audiovisual requests. Abstracts must be on a single page, single spaced, in 12-point type, with one inch margins. Abstracts may be submitted via e-mail or mail. If submitted via email, they may be included in the body of the e-mail message or as an attachment. Please do not send abstracts by fax.


All presented papers will be published in the Proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching one year after the conference. The proceedings will be sent to their authors by mail.

Symposium Fees:

Beijing portion only US $550.00
Shanghai portion only US $500.00
Both Beijing & Shanghai portions,
 including flight Beijing-Shanghai
US $1,100.00
These fees include US $100.00 for registration and all other expenses (food, accommodations, transportation, tickets, publication and a complimentary copy of the proceedings, etc.) They are for a double-room in a 5-star hotel. For single room, add $20 per person per day.
