The Student Leadership Center has exciting workshops and events planned
for the spring semester. One opportunity that we would like to inform
you of is the S.A.L.A.D. Leadership Summit. This one-day summit includes
discussions about stereotypes, values, and collaborations that will
benefit students working in groups. If you consider yourself an active
leader on the UNI campus, please nominate yourself to take part in the
SALAD Leadership Summit. You can also nominate others to take advantage
of this opportunity.
S.A.L.A.D. Leadership Summit Mission and Goals
S.A.L.A.D. has a mission to bring students together in a setting which
fosters a greater understanding of our differences, a realization of
our shared values and a strengthening of our commitment to work together
for the benefit of our campus community. SALAD is a leadership workshop,
a communications roundtable, a diversity appreciation seminar, and a
public relations think-tank all wrapped into one day. It aims at providing
an opportunity to examine the current relationships and explore ways
to expand and improve them. This program will also give direction and
provide a setting to explore our perceptions, and evaluate how they
impact our ability to serve our diverse community.
At the completion of the 6-hour S.A.L.A.D. Leadership Summit, students
will:
• Have a better understanding of the differences and similarities
of the various student populations and organizations on campus.
• Be equipped to better serve a diverse student body and be more
comfortable approaching students and administrators with ideas and feedback.
• Be able to articulate values that all of the organizations share.
• Have a list of cooperative action items or an individual leadership
mission statement for addressing issues that affect the campus community.
Please e-mail Alicia Mireles at mirelesa@uni.edu
with your completed application.
Deadline for applications is February 15th.
