The Interfraternity Council is composed of all active social fraternities at UNI. It allows the chapters to effectively communicate amongst each other in order to expand UNI's Greek Life and participate in making our community better.
The average GPA for men at UNI was 2.82, whereas the Greek men at UNI had an average of 2.91. Each chapter has a study program to help its members to achieve their full potential. U.S. Department of Education studies have shown that just over 50% of students in college and universities go on to graduate, while members of fraternities and sororities graduate at a rate in excess of 70%.
The Greek men raised over $12,000 for charitable organizations and dedicated over 1,500 hours of community service towards different projects in the community.
80% of jobs are filled by a form of networking. The Greek system is a great way to expand your networks.
Fraternities allow members to hold important positions and encourage involvement in organizations outside of their chapter. Nationwide, 62% of fraternity and sorority members are involved with at least one student organization outside of their chapter.
Did you know?
The most accurate statistics of Greek membership ever compiled
Myth #1: Joining a Fraternity is more expensive than other organizations on campus
Truth: All organizations pay dues. Simple as that. In the Greek world though students have the opportunity to see that their chapter funds be put to proper use that they see fit.
Myth #2: Fraternities=Hazing
Truth: At UNI, hazing is not allowed. All chapters here have adopted a non-hazing policy and chapters who violate this policy are not welcome on our campus
Myth #3: Being Greek is time-consuming and leads to bad grades
Truth: Being Greek can lead to a more active lifestyle but it has been proven that students who are active on campus do receive better grades. Fraternities at UNI pride themselves on good grades and encourage this among their members by setting up study programs in order to help each member reach their full potential.
Myth #4: Fraternity members buy their friends
Truth: This idea is brought about due to members having to pay dues but using this logic we can conclude that, since all organizations pay dues, if you have friends in that organization you are paying for their friendship.
Myth #5: Once you join you can only hang out with guys in your chapter
Truth: You will probably being spending more time with your chapter members but that is because of all the activities you will be involved in together. You won’t lose your friends because of this. On the contrary, encourage them to come along and support your efforts and enjoy themselves. Who knows? They might even consider joining.
