Integration Bee
The Integration Bee is an annual competition sponsored by the UNI Math department. Undergraduate students and local high school students compete to evaluate integrals in a spelling bee format. It is a fun event which occurs in April each year.

Alliance
UNI is a member of the Alliance for the Production of African American Ph.D.'s in the Mathematical Sciences (APAAPMS), a grouping whose other members are: Florida A&M University, Jackson State University, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa.
In 2005 the Alliance secured funding from the NSF, which among other things, brought to the UNI Department of Mathematics the full range of Alliance program activities. One of the two key components of the Alliance is the NSF-Alliance Iowa Regents Summer Research Experience.
In the Department of Mathematics at UNI the Summer Research Experience has two parts: a five week course in Ordinary Differential Equations and a four week research project. The Summer Research Experience culminates in a Symposium hosted by one the three Iowa Regents Universities at which all participants from the three Iowa Regents Universities present the results of their research projects. Six students participate in the Summer Research Experience at UNI. |
