Welcome to the UNI Department of Mathematics

The Mathematics Department at the University of Northern Iowa has a long and rich history in mathematics education, a nationally acclaimed program in actuarial science, undergraduate degree programs in mathematics (pure mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics and actuarial science) and has been recognized for a commitment to teaching. Graduates of these programs are well prepared to enter the professional workplace or continue studies in mathematics.

Housed in Wright Hall, the department has several technologically equipped teaching rooms and access to three computer labs. Student resources include a study-tutor room and the Mathematics Education Lab housing a collection of manipulatives, resources and literature to be used in mathematics classrooms.

Faculty include individuals having specialties in pure mathematics, actuarial science, and mathematics education. Both undergraduate and graduate students have opportunities to do research as part of their education.
