CNS computing policies

 

Computer Labs

Wright Hall has five computer labs. Lab hours are posted outside each room and online. Unless otherwise scheduled, these labs are open to students possessing a CNS computer account.

WRT 110 CNS General Use Lab

  • 15 iMac 333Mhz, CD and zip drives. 100Mb Ethernet equipment
  • Mac OS 9.2
  • 6 Pentium 4 2.66Ghz Dell Optiplex workstations with floppy, zip, and DVD+CDRW drives, 100Mb Ethernet equipment
  • Debian Linux "unstable" version
  • Windows XP
  • 1 Networked HP Laser-jet IIIsi printer

WRT 112 CNS General Use Lab

  • 28 Pentium 4 2.66Ghz Dell Optiplex workstations with floppy, zip, and DVD+CDRW drives, 100Mb Ethernet
  • Debian Linux "unstable" version
  • Windows XP
  • 1 Networked HP 8150 printer

WRT 209 Mathematics Education Lab

  • 4 Apple G3 workstations with zip, CD drives, and 10/100 Ethernet
    • Mac OS 9
  • 1 Apple G3 iMac with zip, CD drives, and 10/100 Ethernet
    • Mac OS 9
  • 2 Pentium II 233Mhz Gateway workstations with floppy, zip, and CD drives, 100 Mb Ethernet
    • Windows 95

WRT 338 mathematics Computing "Storm" Lab

  • 4 Pentium II 350Mhz Dell Dimension workstations with zip drives and CD
  • 1 Pentium 150Mhz Storm Firewall
  • Storm Linux 2000 Deluxe donated by Stormix Technologies
  • Storm Firewall donated by Stormix Technologies
  • These stations run Linux based commercial and open source academic mathematics applications, and are used for mathematics computing research
  • The lab is housed on the first CNS experimental LAN segment, behind a Storm Firewall powered by Linux router

WRT 339 Computer Science Lab

  • 22 Pentium 4 2.66Ghz Dell Optiplex workstations with floppy, zip, and DVD+CDRW drives, 100Mb Ethernet
  • Debian Linux "unstable" version
  • Windows XP
  • The stations and configured with MPI libraries and can be used for "Beowulf" style distributed processing
  • Specialized software includes: Splux, VB, Jgrasp, Grasp, Gnat, Cygwin, JDK, Bluejay
  • 1 Networked HP 4000N printer
