UNI ranks high on a national list of “master’s-level” universities in terms of the number of students studying abroad. UNI offers numerous international opportunities throughout its academic programs, including language institutes and student teaching.
Programs abroad: Internships
Students, with the assistance of DML faculty, have been able to obtain internships with international companies and organizations, such as Bayer AG, Bundestag (the German Parliament); Stabilo and the Iowa Agricultural Office in Frankfurt, Germany; and Rockwell-Collins in France.
Undergraduate summer programs
UNI Institute of Humanities and Fine Arts in St. Petersburg: students complete courses in the Liberal Arts Core and in their major
UNI Institute in West Africa: students complete courses in the Liberal Arts Core and in their major
Regents Program in France: five weeks of classes in Lyon; students live with host families
Iowa Hispanic Institute: five weeks of classes at the University of Valladoid in Spain; students live with host families
Iowa Regents Summer Program in Venezuela: six weeks of classes in Merida
Undergraduate semester program
UNI Semester in Spain: an advanced-level program at the University of Oviedo; students live with host families
Both summer and semester programs
Portugal and Brazil: for students studying Portuguese (contact Dr. Krueger for information)
Russia: students studying Russian participate in the ACTR (American Council of Teachers of Russian) exchange in Moscow or St. Petersburg (contact Dr. Maria Basom for information)
