Lyon City View

The history of Lyon, originally known as Lugdunum (meaning "the hill of light" or "the hill of crows")
began under the Romans in  the first century B.C. when the city was proclaimed "Capital of the
Three Gauls". Today Lyon is France's second largest city and is home to 1.2 million people.

Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière

Built between 1872 and 1896 by the architect Pierre Bossan, the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Fourvière mixes Greek, Gothic, Byzantine,
Neoclassic and many other influences. It is sometimes known as the "upside-down elephant" because of its four octagonal towers.

The Saint Joseph Crypt contains many beautiful mosaics.
