Homecoming Royalty Talent Competition: Tuesday, October 16 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM

The Royalty Showcase is where the Homecoming Court will show us their stuff and compete for the titles of King and Queen. Come and support your fellow Panthers! The talent competition will take place at 7:30pm in the Maucker Union Ballroom

 

Course Objectives:

 

 

 

1.  Introduce students to principles and elements of design as they apply to textile and apparel design.

2.  Stimulate creativity and critical thinking through the completion of a series of projects and critiques.

3.  Introduce students to fundamentals of color theory as enacted in apparel design.

4.  Introduce students to fundamentals of fashion illustration.

All course requirements must be met in order to receive a grade in this course.

Assignments are due in class on the date due. Assignments that are put in my mailbox or turned in late receive a lower letter grade than those turned in on time. Habitual late assignments will affect your grade in this course. Letter grades are based on a percentage grading scale.

 

90 - 100 % A
80 - 89 % B
70 - 79 % C
60 - 69 % D

 

Class Policies

Attendance Policy: Students are expected to be at all class sessions. It is the instructor's philosophy that classes should be attended to receive full credit for a college level course. Attendance roll will be taken and penalties assessed for excessive missed classes, medically excused or not. The following penalty schedule will be applied in the class:

 

bullet more than 5 classes missed - loss of one full grade in course
bullet more than 7 classes missed - loss of two full grades in course
bullet more than 9 classes missed - failure for the entire course

Fashion Illustration Notebook 50 PT
Design Inspiration Notebook 50 PT
Final Exam Portfolio Pages (2) 100 PT
Total Points 500 PT

 

Assignments are due in class on the date due. Assignments that are put in my mailbox or turned in late receive a lower letter grade than those turned in on time. Habitual late assignments will affect your grade in this course. Letter grades are based on a percentage grading scale.

Assignments - Assignments are due in class the day of the critique.  Students must have a doctor's excuse to miss a critique, and must inform me ahead of time. Any work not turned in on time will be marked one grade lower. After the first late week, two grades lower.

CritiquesStudents who must miss a critique due to extreme illness or other emergency must contact me in advance of the critique in order to arrange a make-up assignment or exam.

Students with Special Needs:

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) provides protection from discrimination for qualified individuals with disabilities. Students with a disability, who require assistance, will need to contact the Office of Disability Services (ODS) for coordination of academic accommodations. The ODS is located at 213 Students Services Center. Their phone number is 319-273-2676. Students should also feel free to contact the professor if there are accommodations that can be made.
