Return to ClubsThe purpose of this club shall be to unite students who share a common interest in the French and Francophone languages and cultures, and those who wish to learn more about the Francophone world outside the classroom. The club provides opportunities for students to meet other students of French and share ideas and thoughts concerning the Francophone cultures, etc. in a relaxed and social atmosphere.   CONSTITUTION FOR THE “CERCLE FRANÇAIS”  ARTICLE 1: Name  The name of this club shall be the Cercle Français.  ARTICLE 2: Purpose  The purpose of this club shall be to unite students who share a common interest in the French and Francophone languages and cultures, and those who wish to learn more about the Francophone world outside the classroom. Also so that one can meet other students of French and share ideas and thoughts concerning the Francophone cultures, etc. in a relaxed and social atmosphere.  ARTICLE 3: Membership  Any person who is currently enrolled in any course at this university may become a member if he or she is interested in the purpose of the club and is willing to take an active part.  ARTICLE 4: Officers  The officers of this club shall be a President, a Vice-President, a Recorder and a corresponding Secretary, and a Treasurer. These officers shall be comprised of both undergraduate and graduate students, provided there are sufficient interested students from both categories who are interested in serving the club.   ARTICLE 5: Meetings/Activities  Section1.  The officers’ meetings shall be held twice monthly. Section2.  Meetings will be held in the Maucker Union on a regular basis. Section3.  Regular activities will take place monthly and may include movies, dinners, pause cafes, field trips, outdoor activities, and other events that may correlate with other on-campus activities and organizations.  ARTICLE 6: Amendment  This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the club by the affirmative vote of a majority of those present, provided that notice of the proposed amendment was submitted at a previous regular or annual meeting.   BYLAWS ARTICLE 1: Membership  Section1. Any student enrolled at UNI can become a member. Section2. A person may be admitted to this organization by attending a meeting and by indicating his or her interest to either a club officer or sponsor.  ARTICLE 2: Officers  Section1. The officers of this club shall perform the duties prescribed for their office in the parliamentary authority adopted by this organization. Section2. The officers shall be elected at an annual meeting and shall hold office for one year or until their successors are elected or appointed.  ARTICLE 3: Meetings  Section1. Regular and pause café meetings shall be held on Wednesdays with other activities held on a monthly basis from September to May inclusive.  ARTICLE 4: Quorum  Section1. Those present shall constitute a quorum of the club for the transaction of business.  ARTICLE 5: Parliamentary Authority  Section1. All meetings of this club shall be governed by the officers with the participation of the members present.  ARTICLE 6: Amendment  This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the club by the affirmative vote of a majority of those present, provided that notice of the proposed amendment was submitted at a previous regular or annual meeting.
