Frank and Otelia Kraft Scholarship

The Frank and Otelia Kraft Scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to a graduate student in English or TESOL. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must have completed at least six (6) hours of graduate coursework in the Department of Languages and Literatures, including Introduction to Graduate Study in English (6100) or Introduction to Graduate Study in TESOL (6100), and must also have achieved a grade point average of 3.33 or higher. This scholarship award is made available once a year and will be given to a different student each year.

The successful candidate for this scholarship will have demonstrated academic ability; financial need is a lesser, but still considered, factor.  Further, the committee values the contributions—past, present, and future—that the candidate makes to his/her professional colleagues.  That is, participation in conferences, volunteering, tutoring, leadership skills, and so on are indications of professional growth and service.  Application materials are available in the department Graduate Office (Bartlett).
