This Flash application was uploaded by using Dreamweaver.

  1. uploadWithDreamweaver.fla was the Flash authoring file, and that was saved in the SiteOne folder. The SiteOne folder was the Dreamweaver defined web site.
  2. File menu, Publish then created the .swf and the .html files: uploadWithDreamweaver.html and uploadWithDreamweaver.swf were automatically created in the SiteOne folder, alongside their .fla parent file.
  3. Starting up Dreamweaver after defining the SiteOne folder, I had the choice of Open and used it to Open up the uploadWithDreamweaver.html file. I see an icon for Flash, but do NOT see the actual graphic or animation.
  4. If I do the View menu Code command, I can get a look at the actual HTML code that Flash created. Line 6 when I look at this HTML code has a reference to the AC_RunActiveContent.js JavaScript file that enables Flash 9 (Flash CS3) to show the .swf file and run the necessary code to do it. This is a separate issue from the Flash player the client needs on their computer. The AC_RunActiveContent.js file comes from the SERVER, along with the .swf file and the .html file.
  5. We will do this enough times in the Studio IT 1, 2 and 3 labs this spring that by late April or early March, you will be quite comfortable with the process.
