Defining your Dreamweaver Site
How is a site defined. The Welcome Screen Start page under Create New has a Dreamweaver Site choice.

The Garrick Chow Video Workshop shows how to define the site using the Advanced tab instead of the Basic tab. He ignores the issue of setting up the Remote site connection. The Local Info is just where on your hard drive or flash drive.

Ironically, the fact that there is a LINK to the video is very, very, very easy to miss. You would think that Adobe educational pages on web software tools like Dreamweaver ... :-) Usability is a key issue for web pages, including being able to easily see what functionality is there!

We will set up the Remote Info by using Site menu > New Site... sometimes. This time we will use the Site menu > Manage Sites... command to define the connection to sunny.uni.edu and to the URL for your site. The URL for your site will be http://www.uni.edu/yourUNIuserID and will include the name of the file or of the file and folder when you tell others how to look at your web page.

File menu > Save to Remote Server the command you do whenever you want to update your web site on sunny.uni.edu or when you want to put all the web documents there for the first time.

Here is where you can get the SSH software to install on your machine at home. Of course, Mac users might want to use the CyberDuck software. Just look for SSH Secure Shell in the PC column or for CyberDuck in the Macintosh column of the link.

Animated GIFs
The old days using GIFMERGE program from a command prompt. Now Photoshop allows animation, not to mention programs like Adobe Flash, Autodesk Maya and Adobe Fireworks!
