Mark Jacobson's test page on sunny.uni.edu
Day 6 and Day 7
example by Mark for Flash Games class.
February 8th example - see handout. This was
uploaded in the library using Dreamweaver. 2/8/2008 handouts will include
a PDF.
Here is the Practice File Filter.fla for the Drop
Shadow practice.
UNI
- sunny
web page information, for the sunny.uni.edu computer system.
- A fairly
simple web page, annotated extensively with PhotoShop. You will
receive this as a handout too.
Here is my other page from Friday the 26th of
January.
- This button was made in Sabin 227 using Photoshop 9.0.2.
- Here is an old Photoshop
handout with button creation instructions.
The Text
Layer label for the button.
- Link to
http://math-cs.cns.uni.edu/~jacobson/c021.html Computer Skills and
Concepts 810:021 section 01 web page.
- It consisted of four different layers, and one extra channel (besides
the
R and the G and the B channels).
- The background layer should be a light color for this exercise.
- The text tool will be used to create the text, such as Panthers or UNI
Panthers or My Hobbies or Da Bears or UNI VB or whatever you want. That
text will be in its own layer.
- The duplicate layer command was used to create two identical copies of
the UNI text layer.
- The UNI text layer was changed to a RED color and then Gaussian
blurred.
- The other UNI text layer was changed to a BLACK color and was Offset
leftward and downward about 3 pixels in each direction, for a shadow
effect.
- The channel is what allows for the texture that makes the button look
3D. It achieves that along with a Filter. The Filter menu command we
will use the the Render Lighting Effects one.
- The Photoshop filters used to make the button are:
- Filter menu, Render, Lighting Effects
- Filter menu, Other, Offset
- Filter menu, Blur, Gaussian blur will blend the shades of Dark
Gray to Light Gray together, making it a ramp instead of a staircase.
-
Windows Start button, Programs menu, Adobe submenu is where to find
Photoshop.
-
The Start menu button, Programs menu, Internet includes the following two
choices:
-
Core FTP (to transfer files) ftp stands for File Transfer Protocol
-
Putty (SSH or telnet) to login to sunny.uni.edu and work on your web
pages.
- Photoshop is to be played with and experimented with. It is great to
try things and see what happens. You will learn alot from "slimers", from
the unexpected.
We will look at the GRADIENT we created using
BODY BACKGROUND="gradient.gif"
To login, you do NOT need a password in Sabin Hall 227 computer lab.
The IMG SRC="button.gif" tag will display your Photoshop button
An IMG SRC= tag can be inside of an A HREF= anchor tag.
