Wireless Problems


All wireless internet capable devices (laptop computers, some pdas, etc.) attaching to the UNI Wireless (SSID=WiFi-UNI or SSID=UNI-Wireless) network must use the 802.1x protocol with WPA encryption. These devices will need to have their MAC address (machine address) registered before using them the 1st time. Students registering their personally owned wireless internet device(s) MUST do this at the Computer Consulting Center (CCC) located in Room 36 ITTC Building. Faculty and Staff may alternatively have additional technical support willing to perform this service.

Windows platform:

If you are using the Windows Built-in Client and you have changed your Active Directory Password then you may need to force your computer to ask for the new password.
Right-Mouse-Click on this entry to
Download and Save Link As... and then Run this Windows Registry Edit to Clear Credentials.
If problems continue click the Intel link below and verify you have the most current drivers for your network card.

If you are using the Intel PRO/Wireless network card and software you should verify that you are using the most current software and associated drivers from Intel.

If you have a Dell Wireless network card (Dell TrueMobile, etc.) you should verify that you are using the most current software and associated drivers from Dell.

Click Here, for Dell 1350, 1370, 1450,1390, 1490, 1500 series, and Dell TrueMobile 1300, 1400 series Mini Card, MiniPCI and PC Card devices urgent driver update.

 

If you need additional assistance please contact the Computer Consulting Center (CCC) at (319) 273-5555. The CCC is located in Room 36 ITTC Building (East Gym). Consultants are available to provide hands-on assistance daily Monday through Friday during University Business Hours.
