FAQ - Wireless Card Purchasing Advice


When selecting a new wireless card, choose one that explicitly supports WPA Enterprise, also known as WPA RADIUS. Please realize that this is different from WPA-PSK, which is intended for home use, though most cards that support WPA-PSK will also support WPA Enterprise.

For future compatibility, it's best to select a card that also supports WPA2, which is also known as 802.11i or AES encryption. This is the highly secure standard that will eventually replace WPA as the most common wireless security method, and selecting a card that supports it now means you won't have to purchase another one later.

As we do further testing, we'll try to post a few suggested cards that work well with our infrastructure.
