Wireless
(802.1x Protocol w/WPA or WPA2 Required)

All wireless internet capable devices (laptop computers, some pdas, etc.) attaching to the UNI Wireless (WiFi-UNI) network must use the 802.1x protocol with WPA or WPA2 enterprise encryption. These devices will need to have their MAC address (machine address) registered before using them the 1st time. Students registering their personally owned wireless internet device(s) MUST do this at the Computer Consulting Center (CCC) located in Room 36 ITTC Building. Faculty and Staff may alternatively have additional technical support willing to perform this service.

At the CCC, laptops will be given a general audit for current operating system and antivirus software compliance, the MAC address registered, the wireless client set up on your laptop. Your "Credentials", Username and Password (your Active Directory account) are the set students use in the ITS Student Computer Centers. If you have not established these credentials previously, you will be able to choose your password for connecting to the wireless system.

The configuration of Wireless can be a little difficult depending on your wireless card manufacturer and the level of your operating system. Sometimes rather than trying to modify an old existing configuration it often is much easier to simply delete that old configuration and start anew.
